The National Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports has received a donation of sports materials donated by South Korean children through Hope for the Future Foundation, Korea.
The donated materials include balls, shoes, and other items. The Director of Games in the ministry, Edward SettimoYugu, says the materials will be distributed to the states and IDP centers.
“We have received a gift from children of Korea through the Hope for the Future Foundation. They have donated some sports items like shoes, t-shirts, balls and some materials for football associations...We received it and we are going to disturibute them according to the needs of people in the states and also in the IDP centers,” he said.
He thanked the Korean foundation for the gift, saying the foundation had promised to send a container with sports materials to South Sudan every year.
In a related development, a regional kickboxing event will take place at the Nyakuron Cultural Center in Juba soon. Regional fighters from Uganda, Kenya and Sudan are expected to take part in the event.
The chairperson of the National Kickboxing Federation Puro Okelo says the event aims to promote peace, and to integrate South Sudan into regional sports by encouraging local fighters.
It is first time for the kickboxing event to be held in South Sudan, and especially for a regional competition.
