More than 70 football coaches are in Juba for training for professional licenses, clearing them to officiate in regional matches.

The coaches are drawn from across the country, and they will convene for 10 days of training in practical and theoretical skills.

The secretary of the national football body, Mr. William Akot says the training is being facilitated by the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

“CAF will send a technical person to come and train the coaches. Seventy-two coaches will benefit from this course. The 72 coaches are drawn from all over South Sudan,” he said.

Akot said the course is for experienced coaches, those who have been coaching for at least ten years. The training will start on 15th and it will end on the 30th October.

He said that two types of certificate will be given at the end of the course. The first one is an attendance certificate for all the participants and in this course an examination will be given to the 72. Whoever passes the course will be given a license.

“If you don’t pass, you don’t get the license,” said Akot.

South Sudan football is still having challenges because of lack of coaches training. The country is still trying to catch up with other federations and collaborating with world sports institutions to get training for its coaches.
