[Juba, South Sudan, TCT] On Christmas day, the Most Rev. Daniel Deng Bul Yak, the Archbishop, Primate and Metropolitan of the Province of Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan, and Bishop of Juba Diocese preached his Christmas message with the theme 'New Life Has Come' calling for peace and reconciliation for the year 2016.
Addressing his congregation at all Saints Cathedral in Juba, on his message titled, ‘NEW LIFE HAS COME’ the archbishop said, the birth of Christ is a reminder to the human person that the new life has come.
“He came as the light that shines out in the darkness, exposing our sins and providing us with an opportunity to be cleansed from all unrighteousness,” he said.
Daniel Deng who also chairs Committee for National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation, told Christians that Christmas is not only the time of celebration but also a time to reflect on our moral actions and to prepare our hearts for repentance and reconciliation.
Adding that the birth of Jesus reminds us about the unconditional act of God forgiving us from our sins.
“God does not reject, object us or bear anger and resentment against us. Instead, He decided to reconcile us to Himself through Jesus Christ. In Matthew 18: 18, Jesus Himself calls us to forgive one another. Thus, as Christians, we must forgive and be forgiven.” Said the archbishop.
Archbishop Daniel Deng challenged the Christians to work for change and transformation of the communities, tribes and the nation.
“Christ our Chief Justice and Mediator will heal the wounds of our souls. As a Church, let us be a bridge among the communities,” he stated.
“Christ and His Church are the hope for the nations and the world,” he added.
