[RT, Juba, South Sudan] Thieves broke into All Saints Cathedral Church in the capital Juba on Thursday and stole over 1,000 USD and 700,000 South Sudanese Pounds. The church dean Jackson Moses told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that the thieves broke in and managed to get away with an amount of 700,000 SSP and over 1,000 USD from his office at night.

Moses said the local currency was kept in the church offices in order to pay a vendor for the renovation work of the church.

“We were planning to renovate the church but now the money has been stolen,” he said.

“Not all people believe in God in this country. The thieves broke into the church and took the money,” he added.

Moses pointed out that they have reported what happened to police authorities in Juba, pointing out that the police promised to apprehend the suspects.

South Sudan’s Police Spokesperson Daniel Justin could not immediately be reached for comment.

All Saints Cathedral of the Episcopal Church is located in the area of Hai Cinema in Juba.
