The Western Bahr El-Ghazal State women’s volleyball team has emerged the winner of the independence volleyball tournament in Juba.
The team emerged victorious after beating Central Equatoria State volleyball team by three sets to nil, in a match played on Saturday at Nimra Talata basketball stadium.
Presiding over the match, the deputy governor of Central Equatoria State, Manse Lomule Waya, said sports remains important in uniting the people of South Sudan.
“Sports is very important in our country. It is very important because it harnesses the unity of the people of South Sudan. We are one people, we are one nation and because we are one people and one nation, we must encourage sports among ourselves, interstate sports. This will strengthen and consolidate our unity as a people,” Waya said.
The match was organized by the national Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports, in cooperation with the volleyball federation.
